Memnoch the Devil (1995) is a vampire novel by American writer Anne Rice, the fifth in her Vampire Chronicles series, following The Tale of the Body Thief. In this story, Lestat is approached by the Devil and offered a job at his side. The title and many themes of this novel are borrowed from the 19th-century Gothic novel Melmoth the Wanderer by Irish author Charles Maturin.
