Malcolm was right
4 stars
I'd seen the film, but the book really impressed me. Quite ahead of its time.
Dr Malcolm is a much richer character here than in the film. His ethical arguments about the hubris of playing God are more interesting than the chaos theory mathematics, and Crichton's position comes through clearly.
I would say the writing of Lex was really annoying - I know she's a young child here - they definitely improved that in the film.
Don't let familiarity with the film put you off reading this!
